Frederick Headshots — On-Location, By Appointment

Frederick County is full of people who need a great headshot. Biotech professionals along the I-270 corridor. Government contractors and the consultants who serve them. Attorneys, accountants, real estate agents, financial advisors. Founders of small companies who need photos for the new website. Executives at Fort Detrick. The people who make the local economy run.

What Frederick has historically lacked is a true headshot specialist. Most of the photographers serving the area are generalists who shoot weddings, families, and headshots in equal measure — perfectly fine, but not specialists. I’m a headshot specialist. Twenty years of portrait work, hundreds of corporate clients, work published in the Washington Post and the New York Times. And I’m based locally in Union Bridge, just outside Frederick.

What you get with a headshot specialist

A great headshot is more than a photograph. It’s a tool for your career. It tells the world you’re someone serious, someone competent, someone they want to work with. Princeton research famously showed that people form opinions of strangers in 40 milliseconds based on a single photo — so the photo is doing real work for you, whether it’s helping or hurting.

After two decades of doing this, I know how to read a face, how to set up flattering light fast, how to coach someone who hates having their picture taken into looking confident and approachable. I know what works for LinkedIn versus what works for a law firm bio versus what works for an actor’s reel. The differences matter. Most generalists don’t know them.

On-location service throughout the I-270 corridor

I bring the studio to you. A typical session takes about an hour, and I can set up in any reasonable space — a free office, a conference room, even a quiet corner of your building’s lobby. I don’t need much: about fifteen feet square and a power outlet. I’ve shot in spaces tighter than that.

Cities I serve regularly include Frederick, Mount Airy, New Market, Urbana, Damascus, Westminster, and the central-Maryland corridor in between. If you’re somewhere in or near Frederick County, I’ll come to you. Sessions further south in the DC inner-suburb cluster (Germantown, Gaithersburg, Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring) include a $150 travel fee.

Sessions and booking

Three corporate session sizes are available — single executive shoots, small team sessions, and larger group sessions. The on-location pricing is consistent across my Maryland service area, with no travel surcharge for Frederick County. For current pricing, see the Sessions section on the homepage.

For larger teams, ask about a flat-rate Team Day — typically the right call for offices with twenty or more employees who need consistent, coordinated headshots in a single visit.

My credentials

I’ve been shooting professional portraits for over twenty years. My commercial clients have included Google, JP Morgan Chase, the American Red Cross, and dozens of law firms, biotech companies, and consulting practices throughout the DC and Baltimore metro areas. My editorial work has been published in the Washington Post, the New York Times, and Stern (where I worked on an Arthur Burns Fellowship). I’ve won three Maryland State Arts Council Grants and two Fulbright Fellowships, for documentary work in Pakistan and Cambodia. I once photographed the Biden family for their official holiday card, which is the kind of credential I drop into conversations more often than I’d like to admit.
